Kelvin Zero to lead a major international health data initiative

Kelvin Zero, a Montreal-based cybertechnology company, is proud to announce that it has been chosen as global project manager, technology coordinator, and identity system and infrastructure work package owner for a major, international health data initiative, involving 8 countries and 34 partner organizations. The initiative, Secur-e-Health, has recently been approved by ITEA, the Eureka R&D&I Cluster programme for software innovation and granted the prestigious ITEA3 label.

Secur-e-Health will allow the sharing of health data insights across segregated organizations while protecting patient privacy with an innovative, state-of-the-art cybertechnology platform. Through the design and implementation of a new digital infrastructure, the Secur-e-Health system will allow medical institutions of all types to collaborate and combine data analyses and insights without introducing new security risks. This is expected to have a significant impact on the quality of the medical predictive models, the efficiency of data-driven treatments, the acceleration of new clinical research, and the improvement of healthcare in general.

Privacy will be achieved via Zero Trust Architecture by using decentralized data analysis techniques, such as Multi-Party Computation (MPC), homomorphic encryption (HE) and federated learning (FL). In this project, Kelvin Zero aims to enable the use and combination of these techniques in a new and custom-made infrastructure to ensure the optimal security and privacy setting. The technology will be able to live alongside existing technology infrastructures, making its adoption and use easy for its partners.

The eight countries involved in the project are Canada, Germany, Turkey, Finland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Estonia. Participating organizations include health tech companies, insurers, hospitals, and research institutes.

ITEA is a transnational and industry-driven R&D&I programme in the domain of software innovation. ITEA is an initiative to commercialize innovation and part of EUREKA, an intergovernmental network for R&D&I cooperation, involving over 35 countries globally.
