Decentralized Identifiers, or DIDs, is an immutable foundation for self-sovereign identity, empowering users with ownership, privacy, and control over their personal data.  DIDs are unique identifiers that are globally interoperable and verifiable through cryptography and are designed to be portable across a vast array of systems and platforms.

An individual can take their DID wherever they go, across any service they wish to access. Unlike traditional identifiers like email addresses or usernames, DIDs are not tied to any specific service or organization, which are often centralized and subject to a litany of cybersecurity risks. DIDs typically leverage decentralized technologies such as zero-knowledge.
